HISTORY OF YELLOW GOLD
Stretching back to the dawn of recorded time, yellow gold has adorned kings, pharaohs, and ordinary people alike, leaving an indelible mark on human culture and society. Archaeological discoveries provide compelling evidence of gold's significance, with artifacts dating as far back as 7000 B.C. uncovered in Bulgaria, showcasing humanity's early fascination with this precious metal. The journey of gold through the annals of history is a testament to its enduring allure and significance. From ancient civilizations to modern-day adornment, its radiant glow continues to captivate hearts and minds, forging connections across cultures and generations. As we celebrate its timeless beauty and legacy, let us embrace the golden touch that has shaped our world and enriched our lives throughout the ages.
GOLD JEWELRY AND GOLD RINGS
It is very rare to make 100% pure gold jewelry because of the softness of the gold. A ring in pure gold would bend, get marks, and reshape; as a result of this, gold is mixed with other metals; this is called an alloy. The mixtures allow us to create gold with different colors and characteristics depending on purpose and use. Yellow gold keeps its warm, original color, while rosé gold or white gold are mixed with metals that alter the color.

Gold purity is measured in Karats, which represent 24th-parts. For instance, 24 Karat denotes 100% pure gold, while 18 Karat signifies 75%, and so forth. The most prevalent gold Karat used in jewelry is 18 Karat. At VANBRUUN, we abstain from utilizing 24 Karat gold due to its excessive softness, which renders it unsuitable for everyday wear. Additionally, we refrain from using gold with less than 18 Karats as it compromises the metal's purity.
HOW TO MAINTAIN YELLOW GOLD
While gold is renowned for its resilience, proper care is essential to preserve its luster and beauty for generations to come. Regular cleaning with a jewelry care product, followed by gentle polishing with a soft cloth, helps to remove dirt and restore the metal's brilliance. Please note that if there are any gemstones, they may also be able to withstand the cleaning product. Additionally, storing gold jewelry in a separate compartment or pouch prevents scratching and tangling, ensuring its longevity and shine.

GOLD RINGS WITH PLATINUM SETTING
Yellow gold is not as durable as other metals such as white gold or platinum. Therefore, if you are looking to set larger diamonds, or are interested in a high setting where the diamond is more exposed, we recommend a platinum setting. When gooing for a complete yellow gold setting it is good to use the VANBRUUN Spa to regularly examine the setting. One of the advantages of having a diamond ring entirely in yellow gold is that you can opt for a slightly lower color grade of the diamond. This is because the yellow tones in the metal will reflect into the diamond.
In contrast, if you want the diamond to have a cooler tone, we suggest choosing a platinum setting.
To illustrate, please refer to the picture below where we compare two rings with the same color diamond, but one has a setting in yellow gold while the other has a platinum setting. The yellow gold setting automatically makes the diamond appear warmer.
